Basic avalanche course
A two and a half day course where you will learn the basics about how to travel and ski safely in avalanche terrain.
In the course we will focus on understanding why and where avalanches happen, how to use the avalanche bulletin for planning where to ski and how to act in case there has been an avalanche incident.
We will learn while doing lift-accessed backcountry skiing or ski touring, to make your new skills more relevant for the activities you will do after the course. It will also make it more fun!
Dates
3-5 January 2025 – lift-accessed backcountry skiing in Narvikfjellet
17-19 January 2025 – ski touring in the Narvik area
The course runs from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon.
Price
NOK 2 900,- per person (not including a lift ticket for the course held at Narvikfjellet)
Advanced avalanche course
A two and a half day course where you will further develop your skill set to travel and ski safely in avalanche terrain.
In the advanced course we repeat the skills learnt in the basic course, before deepening our knowledge on snow transformation and how the avalanche risk changes with the weather. We also learn how to dig snow profiles and to perform basic stability tests.
We will have a very practical approach in the course and learn while doing some proper skiing and ski touring.
