- A three day course where you will learn basic steep skiing techniques and how to know when and where to go.
- Learn how to ski some of the classic steep descents around Narvik as safely as possible.

Description
Do you want to develop your skills to be able to ski steeper terrain than you’re currently comfortable with? And to be able to do it without exposing yourself to a high risk of avalanches and other risk factors you typically expose yourself to in steep terrain? If so, this three-day course might be just right for you.
In the course we will focus on the following:
- When and where to go – strategies for planning safe and successful steep skiing descents
- Different techniques for steep skiing
- How to access steep and complex terrain (with and without using a rope)
During the course we will use the easily accessible terrain in Narvikfjellet and in the mountains close to Narvik. If the weather and snow conditions are right, we will finish the course with doing one of the classic couloirs around Narvik or one of the classic steep ski descents in Narvikfjellet.
Level of difficulty
This is a course where we expect the participants to have good skiing abilities, so that you can manage different types of snow conditions in off-piste terrain. You should also be able to ski black pistes in a ski area. We expect that the participants have some form of avalanche education and experience with planning ski tours based on the weather and avalanche forecast. You should also be fit enough to be able to walk and ski for 6-7 hours, on ski tours up to 1200 vertical metres.
